Re: 802.1x auth failed but client gets access to voice VLAN

Since we are not privy to the config we would assume some things. The phone was not denied access, neither was the MAC address blocked or denied. It was not authenticated via 802.1x, so it was moved to the guest vlan because it lacked 802.1x capabilities. Since the phone is configured for VoIP,  and LLDP-MD is also configured on the interface, the switch automatically detects the configuration and assigns the telephone to the voice VLAN. It just got th evoice vlan assignment via a different method. LLDP-MED and 802.1x are independent features and and each can be configured and will function with our without the other.
