Hi Ashvin!

Thanks for still follow up this issue. This is the topology - nothing really strange.

(PC) .41.91 ------officeLan----------

                      |

                 (Linux Firewall)

                      |

                     g0/0.5

                 (Cisco Office Router)

                     g0/2.5

                      | .1q trunk

                     ge-0/0/19

sw1e   |---------------------------------|

       |       vlan.5 (oam)  .43.14      |

       |       vlan.20 (oam) .44.8       |

       |---------------------------------|

             some access port in vlan20

                      |

                  (Linux Host) .44.83

                   (XenGuest)

Linux Server s3 is located in vlan.65 pinging vlan.6 (in global routing table).

I also configured another vlan.7 into virtual router "oam" that is configured exactly the same than vlan.6 since it works in vlan.6.

It doesn't matter if the source is locally in vlan.5 (I have a Linux filer in there) or is coming via Cisco Office router.

It doesn't matter if the destination is a physical machine or a virtual. The initial packet never reaches the destination. Not even after seconds. It is dropped.

The first packet _is_ reaching the EX4200 - you see this on the ARP broadcast being sent out. Also I run OSPF betweend EX4200 and the Office Router. So the ARP there never times out.

So basically it's just forwarding from one vlan.X to another vlan.Y once in virtual-router "oam" and once in global routing table.

Walter
