Re: Number of routed ports on EX3300-24T

I'm not sure what you mean by routed ports.  But those are the main front panel port counts either 24 or 48 on the unit.

In addition there are 4 uplink ports on the right side.  Since you are using virtual chassis you can use all four of those for the VC links or just use two per switch to create the VC loop.

Here is the datasheet with a picture.

https://www.juniper.net/us/en/local/pdf/datasheets/1000389-en.pdf

And the virtual chassis cabling instructions for the ex3300

Hello,

I'm hoping someone will help with suggestions with the following scenario:

I have two EX2200 switches. After a power outage over the weekend the master does not boot:

U-Boot 1.1.6 (Jul 26 2011 - 03:19:50)

JUNOS 12.3R9.4 #0: 2015-02-12 11:08:08 UTC
    builder@kessuth.juniper.net:/volume/build/junos/12.3/release/12.3R9.4/obj-arm/junos/bsd/kernels/JUNIPER-EX-2200/kernel

It hangs at this point (I've given it a day). I can get into the prompts before the switch starts loading the OS, so my guess is that the hardware is OK, and that I need to reinstall Junos 12.3R9.4. I may be wrong, of course. I really have very limited knowledge with Juniper products...

The other switch in the virtual chassis is the backup and its current state is the following:

root@i9t-fl0jan-st1> show virtual-chassis

Preprovisioned Virtual Chassis
Virtual Chassis ID: 6f1d.eb6f.49d0
Virtual Chassis Mode: Enabled
                                           Mstr           Mixed Neighbor List

1 (FPC 1)  NotPrsnt CWxxxxxxxxxx ex2200-24t-4g

{linecard:0}

Both switches are running on the same OS version (12.3R12.4)

What are your recommendations to salvage this? Can I restore the master without having to recreate everything?

Re: Two EX4300's, two different default forwarding class sets

And the answer is mixed-mode VC vs non. In a mixed-mode VC the default forwarding class set is the five classes as seen in switch2 above, with a regular VC having eight.

This is odd behavior given that a mixed-mode VC will drop features down to the lowest common member capability--which the EX4300 already is.

Mixed-mode:

The topic seems to fit my question quite well, so I write here.

Do I understand correctly that I can also use smaller power supplies in an EX4200-48P, such as 320 WAC or 600 WAC?

Re: EX4200 Power Supply

Hi good2know,

The total power requirement for the device depends on the number of ports on which POE is enabled. If POE is not enabled on any port then smaller power supplies also will power the device.

Please refer the following links to understand the power requirements for ex4200 devices.

Sorry, I can no longer assist.  I assume you do not have a service contract, but if you do contact Juniper TAC for assistance.

Re: EX2000 virtual chassis missing master

The other method you can try is from the working switch do a request system snapshot media usb and use this as a bootable image on the none working switch.

Copy the install file to the usb and boot the down switch

Then do an install with disk format option to the internal media from the usb drive.

To prevent problems like this in the furture be sure to have snapshots taken on the switches after configuration changes.  This creates an alternate boot partition so if the primary is corrupted by a power event it can boot from the alternate

reques system snapshot slice alternate

incorrect snmp vcp statistics on ex4550

$

Hello,

We've upgraded our juniper ex4550's in virtual chassis to version 15.1R6-S2.1. Everythig seems to be fine but one thing.

Our aim was to have a simple way to get vc-port statistics over snmp.

The only command in new junos version was configured is "set virtual-chassis vcp-snmp-statistics".

But the result seems to be incorrect, for example:

show virtual-chassis vc-port statistics
fpc0:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interface     Input Octets/Packets      Output Octets/Packets     Input  Output  Util   Util
vcp-255/1/0   2769495414781 / 3003959865 2430534685654 / 2496579901 6    7

and snmp returns different values:

show snmp mib walk jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.0.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.49.47.48 = 6775428
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.0.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.49.47.49 = 27503245
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.0.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.50.47.48 = 26184014
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.2.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.49.47.48 = 27536918
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.2.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.49.47.49 = 27629003
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.2.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.50.47.48 = 21480235
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.3.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.49.47.48 = 25541485
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.3.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.49.47.49 = 22331476
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.3.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.50.47.48 = 6521211
jnxVirtualChassisPortInOctets.3.11.118.99.112.45.50.53.53.47.50.47.49 = 26826706

If we campare snmp results to physical vcp-255/x/x interfaces (show interfaces vcp-255/x/x statistics detail) the values are equal.

So, it seems that snmp returns physical but not virtual (which it should) port statistics.

Do we miss something ?

Regards, Viraliy.

Hello

Has anyone had this issue.  when I install vQFX-PFE on EVE-NG, the local console password doesnt allow me to login.

I used "root" "root"

The RE vm will drop us to the Junos prompt, like we’re used to. The only way to really tell that the PFE is fully loaded, is to login with “root/Juniper”,

or try root wothout a password which is the default on many other junos devices

Figured I would follow up on this. I had upgraded JunOS and still got the same issue. I pretty much walked away from this whole thing believing that there's just a problem with the hardware on these 400 series phones.

So recently, Mitel released a resolved issue list with the following:

ENG-542554 400 series phones ignore the VLAN assignment in the LLDP policy and sends out DHCP request on native VLAN

So this has been a firmware issue for a long time on these phones. I did some testing and found the phones work correctly about 75% of the time now. So they've made it better, I'm sure they'll continue to improve it.

I would suggest re-doing the USB drive, if that doesn't work try another USB drive (I've found in the past some work, some don't). Then power off the switch, plug in the drive, then boot.

Hi Eli,

There are problems loading D55 by the method that I stated above. There are few tweaks required to install D55 which is not straight forward.

It is better to install 15.1X53-D58 (JTAC recommended) and then downgrade if required.

Thanks,

Raj

Could you confirm me? Can I enable MC-LAG on rwo EX switches and manage devices as one logical device?

I understand that It does.

Re: MC-LAG

$

Sort of no and yes, with no being the more exact answer.  Unlike VC, where there is one control plane, then the group of switches can be managed as 1.  In MC-LAG there are two distinct control planes, each managed separately.

Now, depending upon which exact product and which SW release is being used some new MC-LAG features such as config sync (https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/task/configuration/mc-lag-config-sync.html) and such allow MC-LAG to behave like VC with it's single management access, but there is still distinct and separate control planes in MC-LAG.

Good luck

Hi.

The console credentials for vQFX PFE VM are "root/no".

Agree with Alexander. The only way how to check that vQFX PFE VM is fully loaded is from CLI of vQFX RE VM (e.g. show chassis fpc). Default credentials for RE VM are those provided by Alexander  - "root/Juniper".

Hi good2know.

The Juniper SE or your reseller SE is your best contact for the part numbers.

I have done some investigation and the SKUs for EX4550-32F are:

EX4300-UM-BLNK     EX4300  blank faceplate for uplink module
EX4200-PWR-BLNK    EX 4200 Blank Panel for Power redundant Power supply slot (Spare)

The information was found in configurator tool for Juniper partners.
