Hmm. these switches are brand new out of box and the QSFP+ ports which are listed as et-0/0/24 through 27 are showing as all having sub ports of xe-0/0/24:0, xe-0/0/24:1. up to 24:3 and the same for ports et 25-27. I have not connected any cables to the ports yet and have not tried any virtual chassis config yet. I am simply familiarizaing with Junos and these virtual sub-ports are one of the first odd things I discovered.
I will definately view and follow the link you sent to convert these ports to vcp-ports which may nullify my question outright.
However, I am still curious how can I disable the channelization of ports so I simply have 1 40gb port listed as et-0/0/24 through 27. For example, this is what I have tried to disable channelizaiton on port et-0/0/27
- goto config mode
- enter the following command: edit chassis fpc 0 pic 0 port 27
- set channel-speed disable-auto-speed-detection
- show channel-speed
- this displays that disable-auto-speed-detection is indeed set
- commit and exit
- show config
- the port et-0/0/27 still lists the sub virtual ports of xe-0/0/27:0 through 3
Maybe I am completely off, but this does not seem to be working. What is interesting is that if I enter a port that does not exist (for example Port 99) I can still complete the command even though I only have 27 ports on this switch! I am confused as I am thinking that I should only be allowed to configure for actual physical ports that exist!
Thanks
