Unfortunely no (AFAIK for sure), those rpm probes are must to automate the failure detection.

Seems that you have configured the xe-0/0/1 in rstp or vstp..Since xstp is not able to find the interface post deleting, you seem to be encountering the mentioned error..you may delete the interface...
